Cleaning the Lens – Healing our Wound

Cleaning the Lens- Healing our Wound is the first step in a 4 stage nature-centric healing journey, ‘Discovering Dúchas – Ag fáíl amach ár nDúchas”

This process is a new phased stepping stone developed by members of Éire Dhúchasach to help restore ourselves to a true sense of well-being in our natural place. We have each suffered a loss of understanding in how we view the natural world and at Éire Dhúchasach we see this loss as a wound that can be healed.

We are intrinsically linked to our home- the cells that make us up share fluid with the rivers, lakes and seas around where we live. We use the foundational concept of Dúchas as a starting point to this inquiry. Cleaning The Lens is the beginning of our journey- it asks us to see nature as non-threatening and fraternal.

We have each developed survival mechanisms to cope with our difficult history and our first step is recognising our survival mechanisms as what they are- adaptations we made under threat which are no longer useful.

You are invited to re-enter into the conscious practice of nature connection, recognising other sentient beings as kin, who co-exist with us for mutual benefit, grounded in the knowledge of place.

A session lasts for 2-3 hours. This includes providing context about the place, an embodied learning experience to deepen understanding of the biodiversity of your area- and how you can claim your birthright of a irrefutable connection to it.

This session is supported by your kind Donation only. The session will take place in Lisnagrá Woods in Inishowen, co. Donegal. Registration at 10.20am. Finishes at 2pm

Our guides

Lorcan McBride

I live under Uisce Chaoin Mountain on the border of Derry and Donegal, beside the mighty Foyle river and the fecund Lis na Grá woodland. My immediate clanns are McBride, McCudden, Anderson and Price. I have 4 children and work in outdoor education.

Shane O'Connor

Shane O'Connor is my name, and my other clanns are Moorhouse, Murphy and Bryan from the Eastern coastal waters, woods and hills of Leinster, Ireland. I have two daughters, Kíra and Lúa and although originally from Baile átha Cliath/Dublin, I live (not just survive!) with my family in Madrid. I work with people to create beneficial change by reconnecting with indigenous wisdom, practices and knowledge.

Héilín Nic Enrí

Born and reared in Doire (Oak Grove or Derry) with care and love from the Henderson, Mitchell, Steele and Plews people. I am a water based mammal, sustained and inspired by the River Faughan, Foyle, Roe and the Atlantic Ocean. I have 2 boys and I work in community education and human rights.
